The following was found in a Gorham 1884 catalogue. It is signed by Codman possibly by Willian C. Codman.
A spoon of this character made by a New England silversmith of Boston is owned and exhibited by the museum of Fine Arts Boston. Some spoons of this form are quite plain; others are ornamented with a threaded border as introduced by The Gorham Co in the year 1855, fashioned after the best examples of the New England early nineteenth century period. Simple in outline and enriched by the delicate thread border, it cannot fail to appeal to all who appreciate an essentially Colonial pattern of real beauty and refinement in silverware. IP: Logged |
