Hi folks,

Can anyone tell me a good reference book for Canadian Silver? I thought the Book of Silver would be the obvious place to start, but apparently Birks, Roden, and the like are not listed. I have a bunch of Birks pieces in particular, and I have no idea as to what pattern they might be, and I could really use a good reference.

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated by this Northern Newbie.

Thanks,

Mark Darrah

Have you tried contacting Birks directly?

Doris and Peter Unitt's book Canadian silver, silverplate and related glass is more about company histories, than it is about patterns.

Hi Callie,

Thanks for the suggestion. I will ask around at the Birks store the next time I'm in Ottawa. I might pick up Unitt's book as well. It sounds like info I don't have.

Thanks again,

Mark

Are you interested in/collecting pre-1900 Canadian silver? If so, there are a couple of books by John Langdon that you might want.
