[26-0705] Hi, I have a pair of serving spoons that are stamped " sterling pat A, FRANKFIELD & CO " on the back. Does anyone know of this company? IP: Logged |

Frankfield appears to have operated in the late 19th and early 20th century. The company certainly sold pocket watches, cockoo clocks as well as sterling and silverplate. I have seen a Frankfield stamp on a Gorham sterling cup, and I suspect their silverplate was also bought in. So my guess is they were primarily a retailer rather than manufacturer. Once again photos might allow someone to recognize the pattern! IP: Logged |

From his own report on an 1874 passport application Adolph Frankfield was born on 11 November 1828 (in Bohemia). He arrived in the port of New York aboard the ship Ariel on 14 September 1855. His occupation given on the passenger list was watchmaker. An A Frankfield & Co is on the 1862,3, 4 & 5 U.S. IRS Tax Assessment Lists for New York. IP: Logged |
