This weekend we picked up one of those bound retailer’s catalogs. This one was from J. W. Wilson, Rome, New York, 1894. 864 pages. Catalog title page: An advertisement for J. W. Wilson: The Busiest House In America is really Lapp & Flershem. Lapp & Flershem printed and distributed bound catalogs to retailers all over the US. Lapp & Flershem would print the retailers name on the cover and there wouldn't be any reference to Lapp & Flershem except for The Busiest House In America. Customers would be handed the catalog to make their selections and the retailer would order (in secret) from Lapp & Flershem. Lapp & Flershem ad: Lapp & Flershem in JCK:
