I managed to end 2013 with a nice bit of ephemera, a bank check written by John Lawson Westervelt to the Pontiac jeweler Henry E. Allison in 1872.

Considering what that would be in today's dollars, it's too bad you can't cash it! IP: Logged |

Indeed -- $2760 would buy me a very nice lens for my new camera with enough left over for a spoon or two. IP: Logged |

About three decades ago, when banks still allowed such things, I designed and printed checks in my shop for a few clients. I have samples around here somewhere, but I haven't looked at them in years -- I do remember one set done in the Dada style and another, trés sec, on French handmade paper. IP: Logged |

If the checks samples do surface please post them. Everyday tech evolution of humanity makes me miss simpler times. IP: Logged |
