I seek access to Joseph Mayer Bros, Sheibler, Sheperd, Watson (and others) manufacturer catalogs from 1913-16 time frame for research and documentation on 1915 Panama Pacific International Exposition souvenir sterling. I offer access to my Shreve and Company catalog of 1914 as exchange, or of course would pay for offered scans or xeroxes. Or possibly buy the catalog. IP: Logged |

What information, if any, do you have on Shiebler's work for the PPIE? 1915 is basically when Shiebler stopped producing, so it would be interesting to see what kind of wares the company produced so close to the bitter end. I feel Shiebler's golden era came to an end in the 1890s, and much (certainly not all) of their other silver is mediocre in design. (Also, as far as I know, nobody has ever seen a Shiebler catalog of any period.) Corey, I once sold a highly interesting Shreve & Co PPIE souvenir. It was a small box shaped as a miniature figural Tower of Jewels. I don't even know what it was for; the bottom lining inside the box slid up and down using little knobs on the outside of the box. Although I sold it a few years ago, I still own the pictures of it. IP: Logged |

Thanks for the interest and response Paul. I have nothing by Shiebler for 1915 or the PPIE. Since the company is among many that produced during the period before the Expo, I assumed there may be some catalog or info regarding sterling associated with the fair. I do know Shepard, Robbins, Wallace, Watson and Mayer Bros produced for the fair, and some catalogs have been referenced elsewhere. (e.g. Silver-Rama 1969: Shepard and Mayer Bros.) I'm always interested in a good pic, so yours would be welcome. IP: Logged |

You might try searching through Winterthur: Winterthur Library Resources IP: Logged |

Thanks for the tip on Winterthur! Was just what I needed to get a little further down the road of info. I'm being caught in a vortex of Arts and Crafts. Now where (and when) do I get outta it? IP: Logged |
