Trademarks on Base-Metal Tableware by Eileen Woodhead is available on the internet and appears to be a very good source for marks on metal objects. The full name is of this 347 page book is “Trademarks on base-metal tableware: Late 18th century to circa 1900 (including marks on Britannia metal, iron, steel, copper alloys, and silver-plated ... in archaeology, architecture, and history)”. I am not sure who sponsors this web site. I came across this site as my wife bought a silver plated biscuit box this weekend by Hukin and Heath and their name was in this book. Ms. Woodhead is also the author of Lighting devices in the National Reference Collection, Parks Canada (Studies in archaeology, architecture, and history) and Early Canadian Gardening: An 1827 Nursery Catalogue. I think she was a Canadian and from the diversity of her published books must have had a very broad range of interests and was quite the researcher.
