Forgive me if this is not the proper place to post this message, but not sure where to look anymore for information. I recently purchased at auction a large hardcover book of old Gelatine prints. The cover of the book in Gilt says. "French Sovereigns" "Pharamond to Louis Philippe" "A.D. 420-1848" Bottom right corner in Gilt says "Gorham Mfg. Co. Silversmiths 1896" 1st page says "Presented to" (with no name listed), "by the Gorham Mfg Co. Silversmiths" "This series of Gelatine prints was made from a collection of plaster casts in the musuem of the gorham Manufacturing Company" "The casts were made from the bronze medals of Paris" 2nd page says. "Sovereigns of France" "From Pharamond to Louis Philippe" Illustrated from a series of French Medallic casts in the musuem of the Gorham Mfg Co." "Published by the Gorham Mfg. Co. Silversmiths Provendence 1896" 3rd page says. "Plate I" Sovereigns of France" A.D. 420-752 There are five plates in the book showing the bronze metals of each french sovereign. Does anyone have any info either on this or gorham doing Geletine prints or publishing prints. I believe this may have been done for the 1896 Rouen Exposition. Thank you Dan Oshier IP: Logged |
