I've been collecting this pattern for a few years. During this time, I've come across a few coin silver holloware pieces. However, I've only seen sterling silver flatware in this pattern. I looked through D. Albert Soeffing's book discussing the various medallion patterns. He states that Gorham's version of the flatware came in coin and sterling. Has anyone seen any of the coin silver medallion flatware made by Gorham? IP: Logged |

I have seen a few pieces come up on ebay in the past; I can't say more, as I have no interest in such wares and paid them little attention at the time. IP: Logged |

I have seen coin silver Gorham medallion flatware. It looks exactly like the sterling flatware. There is no difference that I could see. IP: Logged |

Dale, Do you remember how the coin silver flatware pieces were marked? Did they have the Gorham symbols: a right facing lion with the raised paw, the anchor and a gothic style G? Thanks. IP: Logged |

As I recall, some did. The marks were the same, just the choice between sterling and coin was there. It looked as if Gorham was appealing to two markets, the traditional and the modern. Has anyone else here seen these? IP: Logged |

Of course now there are the modern repro versions of medallion, but the only difference I have ever noticed is one is marked sterling, and the other has either no mark, lion anchor g, sometimes with "coin" IP: Logged |
