Hello again, this time with another silver object made by gorham. It is only 1 1/2 inches wide. I don't know if you can make out the marks, but they lion anchor g (gorham) date letter K (1878) as well as on the opposite side patent 1878. This suggests that it may have only been made for one year as the patent date matches the date letter. I'm thinking some type of sewing device? The bottom edges of the circular holes are fairly sharp, as if to grab hold of something. The loop comfortably fits onto my finger(and my hands are not that big). Anyways, any help appreciated. Tip - if you have a hard time picking up hallmarks on spoons and such, try your scanner,- worked better than my camera!!

Sewing seems logical. There are similar things used for holding and stretching ribbons. I don't exactly understand how they work, or why they were needed, but they do exist. Very nice silver example. Thanks for sharing.

Could it be a corn scraper? Various forms were made about his time although none seemed to wrok well.
