I was going to put this in the Interesting Shiebler thread, but Scott asked for copper pieces so it is here. This is a sterling and patinated copper jardiniere which measures about 8 1/2 in diameter and 3 3/4" high. It flares out and the bottom is wider than the top. There is a removable metal liner. The underside is engraved with an inscription which includes the date of 1905. It is marked STERLING AND OTHER METALS, with the Shiebler wings, and the pattern number 60c. Copper and sterling pieces by Shiebler are not often seen. Does anyone out there have other copper pieces? IP: Logged |

Great piece! I am wondering if Shiebler made much copper or copper/silver? I am also wondering if it was made by someone else and marked/sold by Shiebler? IP: Logged |

From what I have been able glean copper pieces with or without sterling are seldom seen and they include a C with the pattern number. There are pieces of sterling with applied copper ornamentation and though more numerous, these are not common either. Shiebler was primarily a wholesaler and as far as I know everything marked with the winged S was made by Shiebler.
