Here is a fun 1880s Shiebler sterling-handled roast fork (overall length app. 10 1/4"). The handle is totally 3-dimensional and shaped as a somewhat menacing bird. Because of its long beak and neck, it is probably a water bird such as an ibis or heron. The handle is marked with Shiebler's mark, Sterling, and the model number 1709. The steel functional end is just marked Germany in tiny letters.
