Hello. I purchased a set of 10 Tiffany sterling spoons on eBay a while ago that are about 4" each. The handles are figural cast flowers, including thistle, clover, morning glory, etc., etc. Each of the 10 spoons is different. The markings are: "T. & CO. [diamond] STG." Can anybody identify pattern name, designer, and date of introduction. How many flowers were made in all? Besides the 10 I have, I have seen at least two others. Also, are these spoons coffee spoons? I have seen them called egg spoons, but they seem a little small to me. Thanks, Paul. IP: Logged |

Your spoons are from a set of twelve demitasse spoons. This is a not-full-line pattern named "Floral," designer unknown, introduced in the late 19th C. See Figure 393 in Tiffany Silver Flatware, 1845-1905: When Dining Was an Art, just published by Antique Collectors' Club. IP: Logged |

This pattern was addressed in my posting of 4-24-00 (above). The flowers on your demitasse spoons are, top to bottom: gentian, morning glory and ragged sailor. All are pictured in Fig. 393, p. 266, in the Tiffany book cited. The rubbed mark on your spoons should be STG (abbreviation for sterling). These pieces never have a "date letter."
