Hello, First of all, I love this forum. Thank you for all the great information. I would like to find out what anyone might know about the purpose of a Tiffany sterling bowl with the usual Tiffany hallmarks, but it also has 3 PINTS below that. I could not find any reference in Carpenter's book or other materials I have. It is from about 1910. My first inclination is an ice cream serving bowl, but I would like to find out if anyone has found factual information. Thank you so much. IP: Logged |

Tiffany's catalogue (Blue Book) of 1910 lists various sterling bowls, including berry bowls from 7 1/2 to 12 1/2 inches in diameter, and ice bowls in 2-, 4- and 6-pint sizes. There are much larger bowls (11 to 30 pints) for punch. Ice cream dishes, which I suspect took the form of high-rimmed platters, without reference to size or capacity, are also listed. Perhaps your bowl is for ice. IP: Logged |
