George Dawson unregistered	posted 08-22-2003 06:02 PM I have inherited a Tiffany Sterling silver bowl about 10" in diameter set on three legs each ending in a "hoof". There is also a central pillar. The legs and the pillar stand on base - circular with three square abutments - one for each hoof. The whole piece stands about 8" high. The base has the following marks:- Tiffany & Co. 2277 Quality 925-1000 1036 Union Square I have searched the internet to try to find out more about this item but have not yet been able to identify it. However on this forum I did see a piece with a similar "hoof" on its legs. I would appreciate any ideas readers may have. The only information I have is that it was a gift to my mother in approx 1930. Many Thanks, George Dawson - England IP: Logged

The number "2277" is a pattern number, and "1036" is the order number. The pattern number of your piece corresponds to a date of manufacture of about 1870-1871. Sorry, but can't tell you anything about the design of your centerpiece bowl. IP: Logged
