While rummaging through my grandmother's cubbards this weekend, I came across a tea set. My grandmother, who is nearly 90 and has Parkinson's disease, was unable to tell me much about the set, other than the fact that she and my grandfather bought it as an "antique" from a family member's furniture store. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture to post, but I will describe it as completely as possible. There are five pieces to the set, a tall coffee pot, a tea pot, a creamer, a sugar bowl, and a waste bowl. The coffee pot and tea pot have small ivory or bone bands set in the handles. The pattern includes a seashell design in the center of each piece. The bottom is marked with the following stamped in four rows, all centered: Tiffany & Co. 14012 Makers 1469 925-1000 T Thanks for any help you can provide! IP: Logged |

The "T" date letter on your Tiffany & Co. coffee/tea service indicates it was made between 1891 and 1902, the last few years when Charles L. Tiffany was president of the company. The pattern number, "14012," suggests the pattern was first made about 1900, so your set can be dated ca. 1900-1902. I am unable to give you a pattern name. The other number, "1469," is the order number. The "925-1000" indicates the set is sterling. The ivory or bone bands in the handles are insulators to keep them from overheating. Thank you so much for the prompt response! I am glad to find an approximate age for the set. You've been very helpful. IP: Logged |
