I just came across an interesting piece of Tiffany flatware in the Wave Edge pattern. It looks just like a sugar sifter (as pictured in Tiffany Silver Flatware Book, figure #226, page 156) but it does not have any holes to sift the sugar off. The piece is 7 1/8th inches in length and matched the exact same bowl style as the broom corn & lap over edge bowl style (fig. #226). If it is not a sugar sifter, what else could it possibly be? Presumably your piece is a variant gravy ladle. It may have been a special order stemming from the fact that the customer liked the sifter bowl style and asked Tiffany not to pierce it so that it could be used as a ladle. IP: Logged |
