Hello, I just discovered this forum today while searching for some information. I didn't have any luck, but hopefully someone here might know. We recently purchased some pieces of Gorham Lancaster flatware. Once we got it home, we discovered that not all of it was marked Gorham. Some of it was marked with the Ellis hallmark (Lion, E on a Maple Leaf background). It is otherwise identical to the Gorham pieces. Since Ellis was purchased by Roden, which was later purchased by Birks, we are accustomed to seeing Ellis marks on Birks patterns here in Canada, but this is the first time we have found the Ellis marks on a Gorham pattern. Does anyone have any thoughts or information regarding this? Any information or opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mark Darrah IP: Logged |

I just answered my own question. It turns out Birks made Lancaster as well. It must have originally been an Ellis pattern. Thank you anyway. Mark Darrah IP: Logged |
