Has anyone ever seen the same pattern as Florentine by John Wendt but with a Reed and Barton hallmark? We've seen the pattern with marks from JE Caldwell and E Jaccard, and the C C Shaver shown in the SMP Book of Silver, but have heard this may have been made by Reed and Barton as well. Thanks!! The Wendt dies went to his partners when he retired in 1871. Adams & Shaw purchased the dies from Wendt's successors. In 1880, Dominick & Haff purchased Adams & Shaw's flatware dies. Dominick & Haff was sold to Reed & Barton in 1928. So, it is certainly possible. I've also heard that Wendt's Medallion pattern was produced by Dominick & Haff, but I've never seen a piece with the D&H mark. I'll believe it when I have a marked piece in my hand! IP: Logged |

I'd be surprised if there was a piece of Florentine with the Reed & Barton trademark. By the time R & B acquired Dominick & Haff in 1928, the fashion for that type of pattern had long since died. IP: Logged |
