I recently purchased a Gorham Coffee Set, Coffee pot has #391 on it, Tray 12" is #451, sugar bowl has# 393 and creamer is #392. Can anyone tell me anything about it? its age? value? or possibly direct me to a site that has info? I don't know much about silver so anything you could tell be would be a great help. IP: Logged |

We do not discuss values here. A picture would help us date the piece as well as come up with information. What is the exact mark? Is it a lion anchor and G or an anchor with G? This tells if it is sterling or plate. But then it might also be pewter. The number are stock numbers used for Gorham's internal accounting; they really don't tell us anything. IP: Logged |

Hi and welcome to the forum It also would be helpful if you might let us know a bit about your interest in silver and why you are asking for information on these items. Your initial request for their value suggests that you may be researching to sell them which is a turn-off to the people who are on the forum and who openly share their expertise with others who share their admiration and appreciation of silver objects and who are not looking for free appraisals or information to help with a sale. There are many highly qualified appraisers in every city around the world who provide appraisal services for a fair fee. IP: Logged |

Is it sterling or plate? Can you show the marks and style of it? IP: Logged |

I believe that the Coffee pot, creamer and sugar are the Puritan Pattern produced by Gorham Silver Company. If my research is correct, the coffee pot is the smaller, mini version, and the sugar bowl does not have a lid. This information is based upon the numbers you supplied from the bottom of the set and assuming that the pieces are indeed sterling. The set is circa 1950's ish and compliments the Gorham Puritan flatware pattern which is very plain and classic in design. IP: Logged |
