I have three heavily chased sterling silver goblets that I had appraised many years ago and I have lost the appraisal but remember that they were made by a silversmith who worked in Baltimore in the latter half of the nineteenth century. The only hallmark is an open hand with the word MADE written accross the hand in block letters. Can anyone tell me the name of this maker and any info about his work and if it has any extra ordinary value as a collectible Thank you GEORGE ------------------ IP: Logged |

A mark of that nature was used by A. G. Schultz & Co. of Baltimore MD. It began as Schultz & Tschudy & Co in 1898, the name changing the following year. The primary partners were Andrew G. Schultz, Otto Rosenbauer, and, after 1905, James McPhail. The firm specilized in sterling holloware and continued until the mid 1950s. IP: Logged |
