[13-0539] I had the opportunity for to take a peak at these two amazing Gorham spoons from a friends private collection. They were just so amazing that I thought I would share the images with fellow forum members to appreciate and (hopefully) admire as much as I did.

Wow, Carla, thanks for sharing! What is the time period for their manufacture? The handle shapes are reminiscent of many of the Egyptian-inspired designs of c. 1870, while the relief frieze of classical(?) figures reminds of Heller's work of about a decade later. Is there anything in particular that someone can tell us about these great pieces? IP: Logged |

Nice pieces. They are most likely pre Heller. The style of decoration on the bowls was used by Gorham throughout the 1870's on higher end hollowware. Below is a piece with similar type decoration on the exterior of the bowl. The handle is made of ivory and it has the same shape as the Angelo pattern. It is 8 1/4" long.
