My recollection is that this is a mark associated with Porter Blanchard. IP: Logged |

Thank you very much. Presumably, the B is for Blanchard, and the 09 is the first year that George Porter and his son Porter were in business for themselves. IP: Logged |

I am sorry I don't recall with any certainty but it is a reasonable suggestion you make about the B09. Please forgive me but I don't have the time to figure out where there is printed documentation so I could site a reference. Right now it is just my best recollection. I hope someone else will help out. IP: Logged |

I've always associated the mark with George Porter Blanchard and probably his son, Porter. IP: Logged |

Thank you both. The information about the maker made it especially easy to learn that this piece is in the 1920 pattern Lotus. [This message has been edited by bascall (edited 12-12-2007).] IP: Logged |

The lotus pattern was used by many of Arthur Stone's apprentices. George Erickson used the same pattern until his grandson Peter discontinued it. Fred IP: Logged |
