I don't have a piece of this, but I can remember seeing an incredible (somewhat campy) colonial revival flatware sterling pattern that featured an eagle with outspread wings. I seem to remember it in a catalogue from a retailer dated about 1902. Does anyone know anything about this pattern? IP: Logged |

Retailer Daniel Low, famous for the witch spoons, sold a variation of Madam Royale, custom made by Durgin with a very patriotic looking eagle with outstretched wings replacing the frills at the end of the handle. Could this be the pattern you are thinking of? IP: Logged |

Actually, it was in the Low catalogue--and I just looked it up again--they call it "National." IP: Logged |

Oh I'd love one of them there eagle pieces. Fin-de-siecle flatware with a sense of humor (unintentional, mostly) amuses me no end. IP: Logged |

Hello Mr. Dietz, From the Wind Beneath my Wings your wish may be coming true, (perhaps)! Look for it! Jersey IP: Logged |
