This spoon seemed interesting and maybe worth letting others have a look at it. For myself, it was a surprise to see the Dupont trademark on the back of the handle. The spoon's bowl is badly worn and has a little damage which makes it look like this was someones favorite for a time.

Can't say that I recall seeing that Tiffany souvenir spoon before - very interesting. There were a number of very nice spoons produced for commercial enterprises (assuming this one is for Dupont's rifle powder), will check my references when I can, but suspect that it had a limited production. One of my wish-list spoons is a Sherwin-Williams piece with a full-figural chameleon handle, have only run across it once in the last thirty years (aside from the book illustration). ~Cheryl IP: Logged |

There were DuPont shooting tournaments in the late 19C and early 20C (not sure of the exact dates). Have seen several stickpins with a hunting dog design and the DuPont logo on the back. These were seemingly prizes at or souvenirs of the tournaments. Perhaps the spoon is another type of prize. Have never seen a Tiffany sterling example, suspect it is quite rare. Is it inscribed at all? What is its size?
ETA: An example of another DuPont silver item:
Your spoon may have been an award for a tourney, or just some kind of commemorative piece, but in any case, DuPont gun-related collectibles have a devoted following and are quite sought-after. IP: Logged |

This might be of interest for those of you who enjoy old patents. Here are links to 5 old skeet trap devices (click here) in the US Patent Office. Also the Du Pont Fish & Game Association IP: Logged |

Jersey, The stickpin I just found by searching on Google images. They come up on eBay from time to time as well. IP: Logged |

Nice find, bascall. Still unable to check my books, but can't recall seeing it (and no need to look now), happy to have this ad for my files - thank you! ~Cheryl IP: Logged |

Jersey and Cheryl, thank you both. There's more information available about Du Pont Gun Clubs and trophies, but this is the only thing that I've come across thus far that specifically talks about this particular spoon. IP: Logged |
