[26-0999] I just acquired a nice serving bowl marked "Sterling 705 C.W. Crankshaw" it also has a hallmark of a "D" in script inside a border with a small crown on top of it. Now, I found a Charles W. Crankshaw out of Atlanta around the turn of the 20th century who manufactured the Southern Cross of Honor for the Daughter's of the Confederacy. Was this the same guy? Also, can anyone give me more information on him and the piece I described. Thanks!!!! IP: Logged |

First of all welcome to the forums!! Hope you stay!! The mark you mentioned, the D with the crown, sounds alot like the mark that of Durgin. Without pictures, impossible to stay. If you want more feedback, I'd suggest you learn how to post them. IP: Logged |

Even if you do not have a digital camera, you can post pictures if you have a scanner (or know someone who does - these days, many printers combine that function). You can make a drawing of the marks, or scan a photo made with a film camera, or both. IP: Logged |

Thanks for the welcome. I do have a digital camera. I've just never posted using a third party host. I guess I need to learn how to do that. Thanks for the info. I'll try to get some photos posted. Shane IP: Logged |

Looks fine to me and that is the mark of Durgin. Crankshaw would have been the retailer. IP: Logged |
