[01-1553] I have a creamer that is shaped like a gravy boat. It has a flower design and is very ornate. The creamer is on a single pedestal. The creamer is 3" tall at the open spout and 3 1/4" tall at handle. The width of creamer is 2" at the widest part. The length is 5" from spout tip to top of handle. The background reminds me of snake skin. On the bottom of the pitcher is USA patent no. 89529 on one side and on the other side no. 59073 (hard to read). Underneath this and to one side are 4 marks that look like Japanese figures and about 1/2 inch from that is an oblong place where something has been obliterated. This creamer after I cleaned it looks like gold plate no silver. Top rim has flower and what is shaped like a banana with lines running thru it , one right after the other all around the top. The pedestal is just as ornate as the creamer itself. Does anyone have any idea of where I could find information on this heavy little creamer? IP: Logged |

USA patent no. 89529 was taken out by Harry Negbaur on behalf of Harry Negbaur & Co of New York on the 21st March 1933 for the design of a creamer. Here are the original drawings:

Thank you very much for your information. Now I can do more research on this and try to find any other pieces that may have the same pattern. IP: Logged |

The search is ahead of you! Design patent 89,530 is a matchbox cover, 89,531 is a sugar bowl, and 89,532 is a tray. Access the US Patent Office and view the original drawings. Note these are design patents, so you must prefix the number with the letter D. Also note that to view the pictures you will need to download a free software which is available at the site. Okay, I have the drawings for the sugar bowl and the small tray. Now I am going to try to find out what the marks on the bottom mean and where they originated. I think the marks are Korean. Does anyone have any suggestions are do you think I am wasting time. I really would like to find out if this article was stolen and if it was I would love to see it sent back to where it belongs. Thanks, Bet IP: Logged |
