Originally posted by Mark in Great faces in silver #4 ====================================== Hi all, I picked up these two cream pitchers, from a dealer, at the Don Scott monthly show in Atlanta, who knew I collected figural silver. They are cast, 2.25" tall, sterling silver, and retailed by the "New Orleans Silversmiths" shop. One of these is Punch", for sure, and I believe the other is "Lafayette" , but as the bust has a mustache, I ask for help, in identification. Also, would anyone know if these cream pitchers were part of a larger set? Thanks..

There is a New Orleans Silversmiths Inc. is on Chartres Street in New Orleans. They have been there a long time and may be the same company that retailed these items. Perhaps an e-mail to them might turn something up. The mustache man looks like a theatrical figure, but I do not know who it is. IP: Logged |

Hi AHWT, I did read the entry (founded in NO in 1938) in Rainwater, "Encyclopedia of American Silver Manufactures", just after I purchased these goodies, but thanks for the suggestion about getting in touch with them. Carnival related, do you think ? Marc IP: Logged |
