[26-1417] Can anyone please help with this Towle fork? I cannot trace the pattern- -I think I've looked on nearly every site listing Towle patterns. My guess (stylistically) is that it dates from between 1880 and 1910 but has no date mark to support this. Any help gratefully received.

This looks very much like Towle's Pomona, 1885. The pattern is a multi-motif one. What sort of piece do you have? This would greatly help narrow the search. Towle also made a number of special patterns that appear to have no names. IP: Logged |

I think this one is Towle's Orchid, Dale. Pomona has a mixed fruit motif. Also 1880s, though. IP: Logged |

I believe that this is a piece of the circa 1887 "Orchid" pattern. Ref to Turner page 118 or the Replacement's Ltd site shows many of the pieces offered in this pattern. It is a multi motif pattern and most of the flowers do not look like orchids! The common theme throughout all the pieces is the swrilled circular background Hope this helps. IP: Logged |

Thank you Dale, Rian & Park... Orchid has exactly the same background though not the exact flower (mine is more like a sunflower). If there are other flowers in the range I guess this is it. The replacements list also showed me that I had an oyster fork. Many thanks IP: Logged |
