posilutely Posts: 3 Registered: Jul 2001	posted 07-03-2001 12:16 PM Amateur here... I have a spoon with Gorham marks - right facing lion, anchor and then the G and marked Sterling. Inside the bowl of the spoon is a kind of tree of life, then in large, ornate, block-print letters, Oakland. Below the Oakland is a kind of fish or football sort of oval with AL in block print letters. Any ideas of when this was made? Was it a souvenir spoon from Oakland, Alabama? Does AL mean American League (I don't think so! :-) ? Any ideas would be most appreciated. Thanks! IP: Logged

I'm wondering if you or anyone knows the time period during which this spoon was made given the hallmarks I described. Brent Posts: 1507 Registered: May 99	posted 07-04-2001 10:48 PM Gorham used slight variations on the same basic marks for over 100 years, so the marks won't tell us when the spoon was made. If you can describe the spoon pattern, though, we might be able to give you a ballpark dating. Brent IP: Logged
posilutely Posts: 3 Registered: Jul 2001	posted 07-04-2001 11:46 PM Thank you. The end of the spoon handle has two curly cues with a little tri raised crown type mark with one round dote underneath. Then about a half inch of no raised pattern and then what looks like a hanging lily of the valley or a leaf with an apple in front of it.
