I hope you all had a Silver Lined Christmas....Okay that was Bad smile

I have 2 pieces of Sterling both Towle but I could not ID the pattern on either on is a Sugar Spoon and the other I am not sure what it is a large bowl with a gold wash. The Sugar is 5 3/4 inches long and the other large bowl piece is 6 3/4 inches long. First the Sugar spoon pics and then the other piece.

The first piece is actually by A.F. Towle & Son Co. which was formed after Anthony Towle left Towle Silversmiths in 1890. The firm operated until 1902 when it was taken over by Rogers, Lunt & Bowlen. It looks like the pattern is Priscilla patented in 1897.

The second piece looks like the pattern Albany patented around 1890 by Towle Silversmiths. Over the years, silver manufacturers had many names for the same type of piece, depending on what was popular at the moment. The vermeiled bowl indicates that the piece was designed to be used with food containing sulfur, the vermeil being used to protect the silver from reacting with the sulfur.
