[01-0535] I have a sterling handle carving set and need help identifying the maker. The mark is an "S" followed by a symbol which looks like a coat of arms with a fancy "L" above it, and this is followed by a "B". Any help anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated. IP: Logged |

Surely, it must be by the Saart Bros. Company. That firm was incorporated in Attleboro, Massachusetts in 1906 and probably was in business in before that. The "coat of arms" more likely is a shield representing the flag of the United States of America with vertical stripes on the lower half and a field of stars on the upper half. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Scott, That is the exact mark. Is it the Saart Bros. Company as posted by WGS? I really appreciate your help! IP: Logged |

I agree with WGS. This is the Saart Bros. Company mark. IP: Logged |

Any chance that anyone might know the name of the pattern?

I checked the only two ready references that list Saart Bros. sterling patterns (JCK & TH) and didn't see a match for the above. Maybe someone has some advertising or sales catalogs which would reveal the pattern name and share it with you. Anyone? IP: Logged |
