[01-1199] These two unique items are a mystery to me. Can anyone tell me what they were used for, maker and age? It looks like both have the same flag style makers mark. Pierced dragon/griffin(?) flat server of some sort. Measures 5 3/4" long. Pierced sterling cupid scalloped spoon was used for? Measures 4 3/4" long. IP: Logged |

Hi Jen, Neat pieces! Both were made by Watson, Newell of Attleboro, Mass. The toothed one with the griffin(?) is a small tomato or cucumber server in the Olympia pattern (introduced in 1890). I've also seen this described as a cheese server. The cupid piece is probably a nut or bon bon spoon. My guess would be that they're both from somewhere in the 1890s. Cheryl IP: Logged |
