I don't do silver tableware very well, but I just picked up two little stemmed Gorham bowls. They have a square base 1 3/8" across, center stem, and an almost perfectly hemispheric bowl 2" inside diameter and approximately 1" deep. My wife says they're egg cups, but I think they're too big for that. Besides the Gorham hallmarks, there is a designation "A2021". Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks! IP: Logged |

At 2", I don't see how they could be anything else. Have you tried searching the forum. There is also an entire folder devoted to Gorham, and you might find information there. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Between course sorbet cups or so they were used at a fancy dinner I attended last year. IP: Logged |

How tall are the pieces? Could they be salt cellars? IP: Logged |

They are 1 5/8" tall, but if salts they'd have to be masters, wouldn't they, with a 2" diameter by 1" deep bowl? Sorbet sounds about right. I'll see if I can find the Gorham folder for the pattern. Thanks! IP: Logged |

Suspect these are master salt cellars, based on the dimensions you have given. I think that egg dishes would have a narrower, deeper bowl, and would stand higher, and that sorbet dishes would have a wider, deeper bowl. I don't know if the Gorham Forum has anything pertaining to these pieces, but perhaps somebody with the Gorham catalog CD-ROM set handy can idendify them. I have mislaid my copy, so I can't look at the moment. IP: Logged |
