Often on older flatware the word PATENT and a year appears. I know this refers to the year the pattern was designed and patented, but when did the practice start and stop? My suspicion is that around the 1920s, for some reason, manufacturers stopped stamping the word "Patent" and the date. Furthermore, occasionally one finds just the word PATENT and no date. Does anyone know more details? IP: Logged |
