[01-1524] What is the intended use of this piece of Reed and Barton "La Reine" pattern sterling? It is 7 3/8" in length with a pierced bowl measuring 2 1/2" by 2". Anyone wondering how I can be so certain of its purpose should look at the third and fourth pictures. We had this in stock for a while before I was surprised to find the word "Ice" in the bowl...it took some time longer to realize that the scroll decoration on the side of the bowl indicates the "top" and it actually spells out "Cracked Ice". I have never (knowingly) seen another piece by Reed and Barton or any other maker with this helpful feature. Does anyone know of other patterns/pieces/makers?
