I acquired this last weekend at an estate sale. It has the Chicago Silver Company mark and what I assume is a pattern name, Revere. Is all Chicago Silver Co. work handmade and is there any way to tell if it was made before or after Gustafson sold the company? Gustafson founded The Chicago Silver Co. in 1923 and sold it in 1945. According to sources such as Darling and Evon, CSC focused on spun holloware from the beginning. We've had a number of Chicago Silver Co. objects over the years. A few had hammered surfaces and were stamped "HAND WROUGHT" but most lacked this mark and looked spun. This is a nice tray, but it doesn't appear to be hand wrought. IP: Logged |

Thanks for your reply. It is a beautiful, if rather plain, tray. I would have passed it by if it had been made by one of the major companies. I've got Evon, but I'd love to have a copy of Darling. IP: Logged |
