Above is a small tea caddy spoon that was made by The Frank Kursch and Son Co. of Newark, NJ sometime before 1915 as that is when they went out of business. I have no idea what the L stands for, but spoon is a representation of a tea leaf and is a copy of a much earlier one that was made in England. The earlier version that I saw had a more lifelike representation of the leaf but the spoon made by Krusch is still very attractive and quite usable. Does anyone know what the L stands for? From what I understand, that is the mark of Karl F. Leinonen of Boston. I (believe) it's the mark used between his time at the Handicraft shop and his KLF mark... Anybody know for sure if that's correct? IP: Logged |

This is in fact the mark of Karl F. Leinonen and this is an iconic Leinonen design It may have been retailed by The Frank Kursch and Son Co. I have seen several of these and some carry the KFL initials and others are marked with the KFL & Son mark. Keinonen's Son K. Edwin continued making this caddy spoon. IP: Logged |

Thanks Fred for the information. I guess Mr. Leinonen used the letter L for items he sold to retailers. IP: Logged |
