Taking a break from adding up tax receipts (note to self: Do you REALLY need to spend SO much of your income on silver??????). Did I ever show you guys my little barrel-shaped cream and sugar set? I believe it's by H.H. Curtis. It's very small, light, and delicate--I took a picture with a pencil to show scale. I love the engraving, it's so trompe l'oeil. The pompous Art Nouveauish handle on the creamer says 1890s-1900s to me.
The mark. What kind of critter is that, and what is it holding in its beak? IP: Logged |

This might show the engraving more clearly:

Great photographs. The chasing was well executed. My best guess- the creature is a dragon holding some type of weapon (as if a dragon was not enough). Maybe a bent arrow or spear that he has defeated? IP: Logged |
