I bought this Tiffany sterling pie server at an estate sale and wonder if anyone has seen or knows the maker and pattern name? It is not a known Tiffany sterling pattern that I am aware of. I presume it was produced elsewhere and retailed by Tiffany. I have checked my Hood and Turner reference books as well as the internet for sterling patterns produced by Tiffany's known early suppliers but did not find this pattern. The engraving is very detailed, delicate, and tiny. It has the 1869-1875 incused, low case m mark. Who do you think made this piece?

Hello Park, I’m not an expert but I believe that this falls into the brightcut engraving area not a pattern. It’s hand cut by engravers who specialized. Therefore you might have had 12 or even a canteen but it was more or less one of a kind - no dies. Being Tiffany it is the best of the best brightcut! Hope alls well, nice find. IP: Logged |

Thank you both for your comments.I agree Tiffany's engravers were the best of the best. The engraving is so small in places that I actually need a magnifying glass to see all the intricate details. I can not imagine how long it must have taken to decorate this piece. IP: Logged |

A Tiffany made piece. Looks like a custom engraved Antique pattern piece. IP: Logged |
