I have a tea caddy made of what is probably silver over copper. It is cube shape with a plain round cap and has for scenes in done ing repousse fashion. I have not been able to identify the marks. It bears the maker initials W&G or W&S that are gothic style. The marks are a five pointed star, some unidentifiable animal, and a fleur de lis. I hope you can help me. It is not in all the standard books in the library. I have seen it on a few other items on an auction site but no one there seem familiar with it either. Thanks. IP: Logged |

Since it's not a sterling mark, then it's much harder to track down--especially since from the style of it I suspect it's continental Europe. Nothing pops up in Rainwater. Plated good makers in Europe tend to be far more difficult to track, since their marks were meant to obscure the fact that they weren't sterling. I only have one very ancient book (1950s) on American silver plating firms, and there's nothing like this listed. IP: Logged |
