hi a few days ago i bought a cup at a junk store down town that the owner thought was peuter. after shining it up i found it to be silver. on the bottom there is a mark of the Barbour Silver Company Quadruple (does this refer to the plating?), underneath the company mark there is the number 249. it is 2 1/2 inches in diameter, 2 3/4 inches tall, shaped like a pot-bellied spitoon. on the front are etchings or engravings 2 flower blossoms and several leaves creating a circular area in the center where someone had had the letters "A A" engaved. around the lip is a very small bead detail. the handle has fluting where it is attached at both the base and top. slight damage on the handle and if the thumb of a right handed person wore it away. anybody have the guess as to the age of something like this or know a source where i could find out info on the company or on the item.
