Hi, I recently bought some lovely tea spoons, more information about which I would be grateful to find. Unfortunately, being in the UK - I am finding it difficult to trace decent US Silversmithing information. The spoons are marked on the back of the handle in a long thin oblong plaque 'LOWS.BALL&CO.' The spoons' pattern I would describe as being dutch or danish in style I believe from what little I can find out that this was a Boston company - but more than that, I am struggling! (Note - I've also found reference to Jones, Lows, Ball & Co - is this related? note added 8/3/2000 13.00 GMT) Any help? Thanks. PS. as a collector of English Old Sheffield Plate (Fused rather than electro) I may be able to help with queries in this area. joss [This message has been edited by Jocelyn Martin (edited 03-08-2000).] IP: Logged |

Lows, Ball & Co. Boston, Mass circa 1841-47 The smiths: Your reference to Jones, Lows, Ball & Co is 100 years later and it was actually Low not Lows. IP: Logged |
