After merging with other companies in 1898 to form International Silver, did Meriden B. still use their hallmark? I have a chalice with their mark on it along with the stamped number 50 and am trying to determine the age of the piece. IP: Logged |

Meriden Britania's various marks were used into the 1930s. The 50 on your piece is probably a design or production number. IP: Logged |

I have purchased a cake plate stamped Meriden B., with a style number of 1798 and markings for quadruple plating. I am trying to determine its age and wonder if it is listed in your catalogues.

From the look of it, it's clearly 1870s or 1880s, and just the sort of plate that many people collect. IP: Logged |
