I have a sterling wire basket with a small square hallmark on the bottom that reads: K.C. Does anyone know who made this and how old it is? Any help will be appreciated! Thanks! [This message has been edited by Scott Martin (edited 03-04-2024).] IP: Logged |

The 925 clearly means sterling standard, and I wonder if the Z might not be the initial letter for "silver" in a European language. At the earliest the basket would be 19th century, but the marks don't tell any more than that. The KC I cannot help with, because the possibilities are too many. When you say wire, do you mean filigree? This would point to a Dutch, Spanish or Portuguese source... Could you possibly post a picture? It is almost impossible to date things from marks alone, unless there is a clear name and we know who it is. Any other help out there? IP: Logged |
