Very old tea set (pretty sure not coffee set) 3 pieces. Pot w/ attached flip up lid; creamer and sugar. Marking show Irwin Silver Company, Bridgeport, CT, #250. Trying to find year of manufacture and approximate value. Thanks so much for your help. J. Kimble IP: Logged |

Although we don't deal with values here, the date of this set would depend on the style of the piece (along with the years of operation of the firm). I cannot find Irwin Silver in Rainwater, so I don't know how to place this maker. Value in electroplate is entirely based on style and condition. High style and fine condition are important--the higher the style the more tolerant of condition someone would be--as long as cost of repairs would not outweigh the potential value. Plated tea sets are extremely common from the 1870s onward, and it would have to be a very fancy one indeed to catch a collector's or dealer's eye. IP: Logged |
