this silver water pitcher was given to my grandmother as wedding gift in 1927. could you give me any info. on origin and value? markings are T&T over what looks like to be a drum with an E and P in small boxes on either side. under that are the leters NS, then under that the no. 422-66. under that the words hand hammered. thanks IP: Logged |

I can't find the T&T in a quick glance in Rainwater's "Encyclopedia," but the EPNS means "Electroplated Nickel Silver." The chances are good that it was a new piece when donated--unless it looks to you like a Victorian piece, given in 1927 as an antique. "Hammered" is an interesting thing, which might actually mean that this plated piece was hammered (something not unheard of in the 1910s and 20s) to make it look "hand made." Hammered, however, might also be a pattern name. Perhaps some other expert out there might have more info on the maker... IP: Logged |
