I have recently inherited a F. B. Rogers tea set and Tray Warmer (food warmer). The set includes a tray, coffee pot, tea pot, creamer, and sugar bowl with lid. My father's (ahem) wife has apparently attempted to polish it (judging from the dried paste and missing silver) and has removed the silver plating from much of the handles and trim. How should I go about having it re-plated and what would the approximate cost be?

I hope other folks out there can give some technical help. It depends on where you live. I know that many of the re-platers have been shut down in NJ because it is such a toxic job (lots of nasty acids and heavy metals). But the process for electroplating is pretty much the same as it was a century ago. Try your yellow pages? The cost will entirely depend on the quantity of material you have to re-plate. To give your stepmother the benefit of the doubt, the plating was probably already gone or detached. A simple polishing, even with heavy duty stuff, wouldn't have taken the polish off (Unless she used steel wool pads, which I have heard of!).
