Have a tea? set marked with BSCEP in Block Letters, Has N.S. below the letters and below that has 7300 on the pieces of the set. Upside down has 'STERLING SILVER BORDERS. One of the pieces has several stars on the bottom and the pieces have emblems on the bottom which look like 1)a flying horse with the head of a cat?, 2) a crown or basket, 3) a basket with a hand holding a hammer. I just found these among some items which my father had acquired some time in the past at swap meets, etc. I would like to learn more about them. IP: Logged |

I take it from your entry name that you know this is Barbour Silver Company (BSC) and the rest of the markings indicate Electro Plated Nickel Silver. "Sterling silver borders" is interesting, which suggests (without seeing it) that the applied ornamental bands or trim would have been cast out of sterling--and thus not liable to the plate wearing off as is so often true of ordinary plated silver tea sets. All the other marks are the pseudo hallmarks that plating companies often use to create the illusion of sterling hallmarks. They are all Barbour marks. 7300 would be the shape number, and this is helpful only to the maker (unless there's a Barbour catalogue out there somewhere). IP: Logged |

Thank you for the information. Found that it was Barbour from other searches on the web. When I get home next week, I will take photos and post on the forum. I also have several other silver pieces which I will need help with. IP: Logged |
