In plotting how I might get some cases of silver on view this year, even if I can't do my whole silver gallery as I'd hoped, this was the list that I've set up. I'd be curious as to feedback from anyone who can visualize it.. [case 1] Teapot in the rococo style Bailey & Co., Philadelphia, PA, 1845-1856 Silver, ivory Gift of James Chervenak in memory of Françoise Nunnelle, 2009 2009.xx.x Teapot in the rococo style with “Chinese” decoration Entrée dish in the neo-grec style Coffee pot in the neo-grec style [case 2] [case 3] 20. Partial tea and coffee service with engraved decoration
Oval box with floral medallion Cup with two handles in the arts and crafts style [if there’s room for a fifth case] Sugar bowl in the rococo style Tankard Coffee pot in the Federal style Teapot in the Empire style IP: Logged |

This sounds (looks) like a really good survey of 100 years of American silversmithing with all the high points represented. I'm not sure you have, or want to include Shiebler or Shreve; they have a look that might broaden the whole? IP: Logged |

Ah, but we don't have a major piece by either Shiebler or Shreve. Any volunteers? IP: Logged |

I do a mean "homage" to a Shiebler spoon - would that count? [This message has been edited by agleopar (edited 01-21-2010).] IP: Logged |

Of course, I didn't remind everyone that there is silver already included in other decorative arts galleries in the Newark Museum, as well as in the period rooms of the Ballantine House, and in the American art galleries. IP: Logged |
